Tourism and recreation

 

The tourist attractiveness of Łódź province results from the exceptional location, the natural variation and the varieties of culture, which shaped the original industrial civilisation for centuries. Hundreds of kilometres of attractive walking tracks, several bike tracks, beautiful rivers and attractive water reserves are guarantees for successful holidays.

The convenient road and rail links facilitate making use of the tourist attractions of the province. The faster and faster development of the tourist base has rise the level of services offered, which has attained an European standard within a short period of time.

There are altogether 37 marked tourist trails, including 2 aquatic trails - on the rivers Warta and Widawka. Two artificial lakes - the Sulejów Inundation and the Jeziorsko Basin have exceptionally natural attractions. Other smaller basins: Ciesanowice on the Luciąź around Gorzkowice, Słok on the Widawka, Miedzina Murowana on the Wąglanka (the Białaczów community), are also ideal places for doing aquatic sports - kayaking, windsurfing and sailing. There are also excellent conditions for cycling, horse riding and agro-tourism. Ski racing will soon become an attraction on the hilly areas of the suburbs of Łódź during the snowy winter months.

The following walking tracks have excellent natural values: the "Załęczański Panoramic Park Nature" track, the "Wieluń Jury" track, Uroczysk and Reserve track, the track to the Ciosny Reserve around Zgierz, the River Pilica track and the track the Przedborski Panoramic Park.

The assessment of the natural attractiveness for the needs of tourism and recreation, influenced by the topography, the existence of superficial waters, the level of forestation and climatic conditions has allowed for the distinction of 6 naturally attractive regions for tourism:

  • the Brąszewicko- Klonowski region with high forestation and favourable bio-climate (the area from Lututów to Błaszka),
  • the region around Prosna, the Bolesławiec and Wieruszów areas with medium forestation but interesting views,
  • the region around river Warta, including the area along the Warta valley together with tributaries and the Jeziorsko Basin,
  • the region around river Pilica, including the area along river Pilica with the tributaries and the Sulejów Inundation,
  • the suburb region of Łódź, which surrounds the Łódź agglomeration (the remains of the primeval forest including the Panoramic Park of the Łódź Hills),
  • the region of river Rawka, including areas of the river valley on the fragment from Rawa Mazowiecka to Nieborów including the Bolimów Panoramic Park.

The beautiful natural surroundings, the unique relics and densely full calendar of artistic, sports and tourist events in the real centre of Poland and Central Europe are awaiting for their discoverers. The hospitable inhabitants of this land will make holidays in the woods and by the rivers of central Poland a pleasant and unforgettable experience.
