Hospital care

 

Hospital care offered to the inhabitants of £ód¼ Province as of December 31, 2004 was managed by the following 78 health care institutions:

  • 17 institutions subordinate to Provincial Governments, including:
    • 15 hospitals;
    • 2 health care facilities specialising in children rehabilitation.
  • 24 district hospitals;
  • 2 communal facilities;
  • 7 hospitals subordinate to the Senate of £ód¼ Medical University (including the Dentistry Institute without bed facilities);
  • 2 institutes subordinate to the Minister of Health;
  • 1 hospital subordinate to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration;
  • 2 non-public hospitals (the Order of St. John of God in £ód¼ and the System S-1 Hospital in Tuszyn);
  • and other non-public health care facilities.

The total number of hospital beds in the Province (as of December 31, 2004) amounted to 17,512, including:

  • 44.6% (7,802 beds) in the facilities subordinate to the Management of £ód¼ Province;
  • 27.2% (4,757 beds) in the facilities subordinate to District Governments;
  • 9.8% (1,715 beds) in the facilities subordinate to the Medical University;
  • 5.7% (990 beds) in the facilities subordinate to the Ministry of Health;
  • 5.1% (897 beds) in the facilities subordinate to the President of the City of £ód¼;
  • 6.2% (1,083 beds) in other facilities (non-public)
  • 1.5% (268 beds) in the facility subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.
